Who is responsible
Thesis Friday is a personal research publication by Tim Korver, based in the Netherlands. I am the controller for the personal data described below. Contact: tim@thesisfriday.com.
What this site does not do
This site has no user accounts, no comments, and no advertising.
Newsletter
If you subscribe, I store your email address and the date, time and IP address of your sign-up and confirmation, as proof of your consent. The legal basis is your consent (Article 6(1)(a) GDPR). Subscription uses double opt-in: you are only added after you confirm by email. Subscriber data is stored in the database of this website, hosted by TransIP in the Netherlands. Emails are delivered through the MailPoet Sending Service (Automattic), which processes your email address only to deliver the email. I use your address only for the monthly newsletter and never share or sell it. [Open and click tracking is disabled.] Every email contains an unsubscribe link. When you unsubscribe, your data is deleted. You can withdraw your consent at any time.
Contact by email
If you email me, I use your message and email address only to reply. I keep correspondence as long as needed for that conversation.
Server logs
The hosting provider records technical data such as IP address, browser type and time of visit in server logs, to keep the site secure and working. The legal basis is legitimate interest (Article 6(1)(f) GDPR).
Analytics and cookies
This site uses Google Analytics 4 to count visits and see which pages are read, so I know which posts are useful. Google Analytics 4 does not log or store IP addresses. Analytics is configured with data sharing with Google disabled, Google Signals disabled, no user identification, and a data retention period of [2] months. I have accepted Google’s data processing terms. Google Analytics places first-party cookies (_ga and ga*) to distinguish visits. The legal basis is legitimate interest (Article 6(1)(f) GDPR). Google may process data in the United States; Google is certified under the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework. You can block these cookies in your browser settings without affecting the use of this site.
Search engine data
I use Google Search Console and Bing Webmaster Tools to see which search queries lead to this site. These tools place nothing on this site and give me aggregated statistics only, not information about individual visitors.
Your rights
You have the right to access, correct or delete your personal data, to restrict or object to processing, and to data portability. Email tim@thesisfriday.com and I will respond within one month. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the Dutch Data Protection Authority (Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens), autoriteitpersoonsgegevens.nl.
Changes
If this statement changes, the date at the top changes with it.
